Introducing HerSpace

At Six Words, we believe that work is a big part of creating a happy, purposeful life. We also believe work should be enjoyable, challenging and meaningful. We try to take on projects that create lasting impact within organizations and in many cases, create positive change in our community.

Our female-led, majority women team is also passionate about empowering other women to reach their goals at work and in life.

This March, in honour of International Women’s Day, we’re proud to launch HerSpace.

HerSpace is a weekly drop-in program for women of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. A joint initiative of Atira Women’s Resource Society, the Eastside Movement for Business and Economic Renewal Society (EMBERS) and our team at Six Words Communication, HerSpace offers a safe place for women to connect, learn and hone essential career skills.

From workplace literacy to skill development like smartphone and computer use, budgeting, reading, writing and more, HerSpace aims to empower women through education and one-on-one, woman to woman support.

Individual women choose the skill they want to improve, we help make it happen.

HerSpace is our way of tipping our hats to the countless mentors we’ve had over the years, the people who made time to share their expertise, support and words of encouragement when we needed it. The people who created space for us to learn a new skill and as a result, helped us face new career challenges and opportunities.

HerSpace is our way of paying it forward.

HerSpace happens every Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at EMBERS. To learn more or find out how you can get involved, email us at hello@sixwordscommunication.com.
